The Child Within You

One fine morning, as usual, i was waiting for a bus. A child headed to his school holding his mothers hands walked past me. I was already jealous of his careless walk and eyes that were wide open capturing anything that comes across, the mud, trees, tar..... One by one filling in Jig saws inside his brain. Though dragged by his mother who was already late to work ,he turned to look at me ... Just when he was about to go away he stretched his hand out to me. I stretched my hand too.... My fingers could only touch his finger tips ...and... he went on...Realising i had a smile on my face i looked around to see if any bus had arrived as yet, but naah there wasn’t any...But what there was to my surprise were the glares from the other people waiting in the Bus Stop . All wondering y did she do that?

That was the moment I decided to write. Write about how insensitive the world has become. Not being presumptuous. But yes, people have forgotten to enjoy the small moments that life has to offer, forgotten to be a child at heart.

When we were little we would run out in the rain and look right up to the sky and feel water and the power of nature. Play in the mud till no more of it could enter inside your nails.....Play till your mother would scold you.....As a grownup we would only manage to enjoy the smell of the ground wet with the first few drops of rain....

I remember the time when I and five other childhood friends would rent a cycle; we would take turns in riding the cycle, each one of us helping the others learn. One day when we realised that we had mastered the art of riding cycles we decided to rent cycles for each one of us and have race. And when we were through racing we continued to ride around the village, we rode to places that we were scared to walk to, enjoying sights of the all-ripe grapeyard and the pond where villagers would unwind fishing and watching the beautiful sun go down.... How many of us do spare time to watch the sun set or rise?

Yes i do agree life gives you very few moments to feel alive for but the next time you are riding in a heavy traffic, instead of rushing along the crowd, don’t forget to speed down ( on the left side of the road of course :P ) and enjoy watching a butterflies flight or a bird perching ... Keep the child within you alive :)

  3. Dear Tintu,
    Good Morning!
You have selected a nice theme and expressed well.
    You know what,turn to nature.
My mornings are rich listening to
    The chirping of sparrows,
    Feeding them,crows,pigeons,cat and kitten.
I do talk to the sparrows,
Enjoy the new blooms in the garden,
Taking time to enjoy the beautiful sea,
    Infront of my apartment
    Then the squirrels and butterflies..........
Even new leaves bring smile on my face.
Life, this short life has a lot to offer!
    Open the eyes and see.............
    Wishing you a beautiful day,
    Sasneham,
    Anu
